This week I would like to indtroduce another of the stranger looking dogs I have met, Grug. Grug is supposedly a Staffy mix Jack Russell, but I am certain there are other things in there, perhaps dachshund or corgi. Either way, this intriguing little fellow has an intense personality, he loves, loves, loves playing with soccer balls and his mate Lachie (pictured). He enjoys chasing rabbits and mucking around out bush where he lives with his human in a "hill billy hideout". Other than that, you can always count on Grug for a cuddle as well as an adventure, he is up for anything.
This week I had the pleasure of working with a new local maker, Jessica Thomas, photographing her various hand made products to get her business page up and running. Jess, owner of The Little Red Bug, creates gorgeous, colourful beanies and headbands, as well as unique jewellery, and I am sure there is much more to come so keep your eye on her page. Models: Laura Thomas and Kim Kennedy
Accessories :The Little Red Bug This week I would like to introduce, Jet. Jet is a four year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, though you could almost mistake him for a Frenchy with those bat ears! This friendly guy loves to play with his little mate Pippa in the back yard, chasing balls and catching rabbits in his free time. He lives in any dogs dream with plenty of space to run and horses to chase! Jet is one of a kind, with those soulful staffy eyes he melts hearts. So here he is:
This week I wanted to try something different, I am still learning about night portraiture, so I may have been a little ambitious, with my lack of knowledge on this technique as well as lack of adequate camera gear... but it was a learning experience and I am not displeased with the outcome. Our dog for week 21 is Bonnie. This attention loving corgi mix is an RSPCA rescue who made herself right at home when she arrived at my family home in 2003 (ish) we found her curled up on the bed in the master bedroom within hours of her arrival. She adores every person who takes the time to give her any ounce of attention, and she shares days with Charlie, the chocolate labrador from week 17. Bonnie was so excited to get out of the house and have an adventure for this shoot, she was full of smiles and wide eyes. Bonus night light squiggles!
(which was unintentional when I accidentally did a 30 second exposure whilst I was walking...) This week's little show stopper is Eddie! Eddie is a happy little scamp who steals everybody's hearts, he shares his home with a ginger cat named Nala, and he loves to stir her up at play time. Eddie is a playful little guy, who loves to chase his toys around the house tapping his little feet on the hardwood floors. He is also a great neighbourhood watch dog, keeping his eye on all the happenings in his street. BONUS SASSY CAT!
Daniel and Emma are excitedly awaiting the arrival of a baby boy in the next few months. To celebrate the new addition to their family, they asked me to take a few photos for them as a memory keepsake.
We found a perfect location in the soft light of a Sunday evening, where Dan, Emma and Colby (big brother labrador and Dog of the Week for week 19) could relax and feel comfortable in front of the lens. I thought what better day to post this than Mother's Day. Congratulations to Daniel and Emma and a very happy Mother's Day to Emma, and all of our Mum's out there. Meet Colby, a delightful golden labrador who loves to roll around in the grass. looking at the photos below, would you believe Colby is 10 years old? Colby is soon to be a big brother to a human baby, so his owners decided to celebrate with a little photo shoot. I had a lot of fun getting to know this rascal, who I have learnt is a connoisseur of socks, he loves his soccer ball and enjoys a good adventure, like most dogs. I think Colby is looking forward to being a big brother, with a little boy joining the pack they are sure to get up to mischief together. Meet Colby, Might be time to get away from retrievers! they have been dominating dog of the week lately, I have some fun ideas up my sleeve for next week!
This week I would like to introduce Braille, one of the sweetest, most gentle dogs around. My close friend found Braille as an adult dog from a breeder for companionship while she studied interstate away from home. Braille shares her home now with three snugly cats and a kelpie named Wolf, who loves to round her up.
Braille loves water, sticks, balls, rolling in things and cuddles, her fur is always full of prickles and evidence that she has been having a good time, and true to her breed, you wont often find Braille at home without some sort of stuffed animal in her mouth. Introducing my favourite golden retriever, Braille: Meet Charlie, Mr Brown and Brown Man. Charlie is a beloved family pet, owned by my parents. He is a super sweet, 9 year old chocolate labrador, who is completely at home in the central Victorian bush and countryside. Charlie spends most of his days lazing in the sun, barking at kangaroos and finding putrid things to roll in. He is an incredibly gentle and polite boy, who will always wait for others to walk in front of him. his only impolite habit is when he decides he needs more attention and promptly head butts his way in between one's legs. This can be extremely awkward especially for those short in stature like my mother.
Without further ado, meet Charlie, our dog for week seventeen. Photographed in his own backyard in Mandurang. Today I decided to spend a work-free afternoon out at Cairn Curran with my two furry ones. I love photographing dogs splashing in the water, something about the sunshine, the energy and the little crystals of water falling every where makes for a magical image.
